KNOW COMPLETE STRATEGY
  • Know your syllabus and exam pattern- When you start your preparation, begin with understanding the exam as a whole. Inform yourself of everything about the exam. A lot of aspiring applicants overlook the importance of the exam pattern and don’t focus on the syllabus. Instead, they try to cram up a lot of information without knowing if it’s important for the exam or not. This results in an unnecessary waste of time and builds a lot of confusion in your mind. Avoid doing this. Be sure of every aspect of the exam you are preparing for with the help of Oliveboard

The first level of the RRB Group D exam that is the computer-based test (CBT) includes the following subjects in its syllabus:

  1. General Science- This section includes Chemistry, Physics, and Life Science based on the Class 10 syllabus. It’s been years since you took your tenth-grade exam, and it’s reasonable that the concepts have gone hazy in your mind. But these sections hold at least one-fourth of the syllabus and you cannot ignore it like that. If you want to recollect all that you have studied in class 10th, you can refer to the NCERT Class 10th book to revisit all the topics. Check out sample papers to understand the pattern of questions that are most expected to be asked. Keeping them in mind, prepare your general science.
  1. Mathematics- This section includes Number System, BODMAS, LCM & HCF, Percentages, Mensuration, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Decimals & Fractions, Profit and Loss, Algebra, etc. These are some topics that you have studied in your high school. Give at least 3-4 hours daily in order to complete this vast course of the syllabus. Make notes of the important theories and formulae based on the syllabus. Practice the questions daily and ensure that you don’t keep any doubt to yourself.
  1. General Intelligence and Reasoning- This section includes Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Mathematical Operations, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagrams, Directions, Relationships, Coding and Decoding, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions, etc. These questions based on these topics can be too tricky for you but if you know how to solve them then it will be just a piece of cake. This section aims to gauge the candidate’s mental and logical ability. If you know the short tips and tricks to solve these questions, then it won’t take much of your time to decipher them.
  1. General Awareness and Current Affairs- There are no set boundaries when it comes to general awareness and current affairs. This section is a part of your daily life. And to crack this section of the exam, you need a keen observation of everything happening around you and across the world. The best source to educate yourself about this section is nothing else but the newspapers. Make a habit of reading the newspaper every day. Note the important incidents happening around and go through these notes frequently. Keep yourself updated with current happenings.
  • Comprehend the basic conceptions- Your goal should be to clear the basic concepts first. When you don’t have a comprehensive understanding of the concepts in the questions, how will you apply them? The more fundamental principles you lack, the more difficult it will be to solve the questions. We know that the syllabus includes Maths and Science. These are the subjects where you should stress more on basic concepts.
  • Devote adequate time for each topic- The syllabus of the RRB Group D exam is undoubtedly vast. If you are planning to give your shot in the exam, then you shouldn’t probably wait for the exam announcements and start with preparation right away. This way, you will be able to give each section proper time and as a result, it will enhance the quality of your preparation.
  • Know your strengths and weaknesses- You know the areas where you lack the most and the areas you are confident of. Focus more on the areas that need attention and effort. Keep a track of the topics that need practice and try to clear them off before the exam. Meanwhile, revise the topics that are well-known to you. Don’t ignore them while covering the weaker area.
  • Attempt mock tests- To strengthen your concepts and enhance your learning, try to attempt as many mock tests as you can. Practice questions from each section at various levels of difficulty. Try to attempt the questions in a shorter amount of time and with greater accuracy. This will help you in learning time management and will brace your concepts as well. Taking a mock test will help you with the pattern of questions that can be asked in the exam and so you can prepare yourself for the exam beforehand.
